Change and Why You Should Accept it.

During typhoon Ompong, the electricity and the all powerful internet was not present.  This is when I came across a topic that has been on my mind for a while and that’s the force of change. Observing the wind blowing, heavy rains, and constant landslides, it reminded me of time when I was still a freshie in the Philippines and how it changed my life. It was a change I never expected and also never accepted due to my high ego of being an American. I complained many times “Why is this like that?” “Can’t they do it like other countries?” “Back in America it was never like this” I was quite a brat and my constant attitude made me salty and stressed, it became a burden that dragged me down and hurt a lot of people. This became a constant battle in my head just because I could never embrace the biggest natural force which is change.

“The only thing permanent is change.”- Heraclitus

Fast forward a bit and I became wiser also subtle with my mind because I learned how to accept the change that has brought forward to me. I became accepting of my environment, accepting of new ideas, and accepting of different people. There is a lesson to be told here because, if you never embrace you’ll be in a constant algorithm never to grow nor experience in the world around you. You’ll fall behind from everybody around you because change is inevitable and it’s always there regardless if you like it or not. To not accepting change is a dread just like an individual who can’t get over the last relationship that led to broken hearts or an individual who constantly loses money in the casino but gradually and constantly continues to do so.

Things to keep in mind are that when you accept change you’ll:

  • Keep growing

This is essential because growing is a big part of life in which you just keep developing yourself as a better person.

  • Understand the world better

In the same level of growing, change is an experience in which our uttermost conscience receives data, interpret, and stores it in which allows us to become wiser.

  • Live, love, and laugh

With change comes in new experiences. Welcoming people in our lives, creating moments that seeps into our hearts, and exploring what tickles your brain is what we all live for and I’m sure those moments will hold a special place in your heart.

  • Be grateful for people, lifestyle, and thing you have in your life

I can’t emphasize on this enough but change will really make you look back at the times where you were in crisis in your life if that’d be a break up, financial issues, or anything that has made you feel doomed. You’ll zoom out of them and realize that life isn’t that bad

With this I conclude you to accept it, let change mold you, and create what may lead you to a bright future. Keep the change natural and smooth because forceful change isn’t what leads you but what creates confusion.

“A man of awareness knows that life is constantly changing. Life is change. There is only one thing permanent, and that is change. Except change, everything else changes. To accept this nature of life, to accept this changing existence with all its seasons and moods, this constant flow that never stops for a single moment, is to be blissful. Then nobody can disturb your bliss. It is your hankering for permanency that creates troubles for you. If you want to live in a life with no change – you are asking the impossible.”- Osho, No Man Is an Island, Talk #31
